Abstract

This article presents a new perspective on the significance and functions of regional museums in the face of changes taking place in the contemporary world. The author analyzes the concept of genius loci — the spirit of place — and its implementation in museum practice, examining how local museums construct narratives about identity, memory, and cultural heritage of local communities.
