What it does

Clarity replaces the default OJS reader interface with a modern, professional design. Every public-facing page gets a fresh look — the homepage, issue table of contents, article pages, archive, and search results.

How it works

  1. Upload the theme through your OJS admin panel (Settings → Website → Plugins)
  2. Activate Clarity in Website → Appearance → Theme
  3. Pick your color palette, typography, and footer style from the theme settings
  4. Your journal’s public pages immediately reflect the new design

Customization

Clarity is designed to work beautifully out of the box, but every journal is different. From the theme settings panel you can:

  • Choose a color palette — each palette adjusts the accent color, gradients, and subtle surface tones across both light and dark modes
  • Pick a font pairing — select from four carefully curated combinations that balance readability with personality
  • Set footer style — dark footer for contrast or light footer for a softer feel
  • Dark mode — enabled by default, respects the reader’s system preference with a manual toggle available

Design philosophy

Clarity prioritizes readability and clean information hierarchy. Article metadata, author affiliations, and download options are organized in a clear visual structure so readers find what they need without friction. The design scales from small single-journal installations to large multi-journal instances.
